Building Healthier Communities Through Education & Prevention
Pequawket Valley Health Initiatives is a community-based organization working to promote healthy living and prevent teen substance use in western Maine and nearby New Hampshire communities. We believe that education, open communication, and access to reliable resources can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and the communities around them.
By connecting individuals, families, schools, and community organizations with information and resources, PVHI works to strengthen prevention efforts, reduce substance-related harm, and support healthier futures.
Our Mission
Our mission is to support individuals and communities in their efforts to lead healthy, fulfilling lives free from substance-related harm.
We work to identify community needs, share information, connect people with resources, and promote evidence-informed prevention strategies that encourage healthy choices and strengthen community well-being.
Our Approach
Harm reduction and safety
Community-centered support
Young people deserve honest answers to their questions about drugs and alcohol. We believe accessible, accurate information and open conversations are essential to prevention.
Education without judgment
Preventing substance use takes more than one conversation or program. It takes families, schools, and communities working together to support young people.
Prevention through connection
We recognize that substance use can have serious consequences. Sharing information about risks, overdose prevention, and available support can help reduce harm and save lives.
Every community has different needs. We aim to connect people with relevant resources and encourage collaboration among the individuals and organizations working to make a difference.
